Serving the lowcountry since 1980

GFCS was founded by John "Jack" Emmel, M.D. in 1980. Dr. Emmel started the practice after finishing his family medicine residency at MUSC. Dr. Emmel is board certified in Family Medicine, Geriatrics, Palliative Care and Addiction Medicine and has a passion for providing care to older adults.

Our practice and team members are entirely local. By only working in the lowcountry we can concentrate all of our efforts here in Charleston which greatly benefits our buildings and our patients.

Our Story

GFCS is composed of primary care physicians and nurse practitioners who provide primary care to patients in nursing homes, assisted living, memory care units and in patients' private homes. We come to you making your care very convenient.
